There have been two bands that have used this name. 1) Bauhausis an Englishband (formed in Northampton in 1978) popular in the 1980s. The band took their name from the German Bauhaus art movement, originally going by the name Bauhaus 1919, dropping the latter portion within a year of the band's formation. Bauhaus combined a number of influences ( punkmusic, glam rock, even funkand dub), to create a gloomy, but very passionate sound which appealed to many left looking for something new in the wake of punk's collapse. Their sound proved very influential, inspiring or bringing attention to a whole wave of post-punkgroups delving in the intense, gloomy style that would eventually come to be known as goth rock.

We're going down
We're going down
To the kamikaze dive
Fishnet leatherette
Pussy Galore
Psuedo sumo wrestler
On the door
Dangerous dances
The dragons claw
K-Tel oriental
The monkey's paw.
You're a dead ringer for Madame Butterfly
Snappy little fingers
Stitch my thigh
You're so necromantic
Venomous and vain
Mixing molotov cocktails
In the subterrain
We're going down to the kamikazi dive
Like insects in a Chinese lantern now
We're feeling so alive, what's showing?
We're going down to the kamikazi dive.
Like manic moths in Chinese lanterns now
We're feeling so alive, what's showing
